Youth Council

Mission

The Youth Council is supervised by the United Nations Association of Singapore. It is currently headed by the Editor-in-Chief of THINK!, who concurrently heads the Council. The Youth Council is an independent organization devoted to fostering the awareness, skills, and values of leadership among undergraduates. By providing knowledge-building programs and channels for collaboration between student leaders, the Council aims to inspire and empower students to fulfill their leadership potential and at the same time contribute to broader society.

What We Do

The Youth Council achieves its mission through several distinct programs:

  • Leadership Development Program: hosts knowledge-building workshops and conversations with senior leaders to share lessons and connect undergraduates with role models.
  • The Council Leadership Forum: hosts discussion forums to connect student leaders on issues pertaining to peace and security.
  • Social Outreach: programs focus on providing community services to make life better for the disadvantaged.
  • THINK! is the official intellectual social forum to present ideas and resources for leadership and intellectual development.
  • World Peace Conference hosted by the Peace Committee: The Youth Council is pleased to announce a unique partnership with the Peace Committee of UNAS, where academics, practitioners and the youth collaborate to making a difference towards a more secure world.

Membership Benefits

  • Extend personal leadership capacities
  • Access to training workshops/conferences
  • Opportunities to interact with leaders from academia, business, government, non-profits, etc.
  • Be part of a unique community at UNAS, with group socials, retreats, outings, etc

If you are a undergraduate who is keen to give back to society, please send us an e-mail at kwongweng@think-unas.org and state your interests on how you can contribute to the initiatives as stated above. The admissions committee will get back to you soon. Due to extremely high interest from many talented students, the process consists of a written application and interviews.

Students interested in applying to the Youth Council outside of Singapore should send an e-mail stating reasons why they should be considered outside of the normal recruiting cycle.
